The Milan Legacy
Named after the fashion capital of the world, Milan is one of the leading luxury fashion retailers in the region. Ever since its virgin foray into the world of haute couture in 1974, the Milan Group has always been synonymous with the terms luxury and affluence.
Enterprising founder Mr. B L Tang's vision of importing collections from exclusive Italian labels like Gucci and Trussardi to Singapore made their first boutique at Plaza Singapura a fashion pioneer.
Targeting the wealthy female executive with an appreciation for high quality shoes, Milan Shoes brought in latest designs that heralded their impeccable style and fine workmanship.
Today, the boutique has extended its variety of goods to include women’s and men’s shoes, handbags, luggage, briefcases, beauty cases, wallets and belts.
Rejecting the traditional idea of representing only a single brand, the fashionable elite are spoilt for choice with coveted major labels like FONTANA MILANO 1915, GIANFRANCO LOTTI, GIRONACCI, JEANNOT, LEU LOCATI, MARINO FABIANI, MASSIMO TRULLI, VALENTINO ORLANDI, DELL’GA and PINEIDER.
The success of Milan Shoes spurred the opening of a flagship store. The Milan Men’s Boutique opened with a bang at the Paragon in 1986, carrying a wealth of menswear, shoes and accessories designed for the discerning gentleman with means.
The response was so overwhelming that Milan Men’s Boutique opened three more branches at The Centrepoint, Plaza Singapura and Mandarin Hotel between 1989 and 1992.
Renowned major labels ARTIOLI, FRAY, GERLIN, HETTABRETZ, SAINTANDREWS, STEFANO RICCI, ZILLI, BRIONI, DALMINE and ZIMMERLI OF SWITZERLAND ensured that every need of the refined man was met, from shoes to belts, tuxedos to nightclothes, ties to handkerchiefs.
With many personal requests from fathers hoping to dress their sons in a similarly polished fashion, the Milan Group introduced the Milan Boutique at The Centrepoint in 1993.
Based on the innovative concept “Like Father Like Son”, the boutique complemented their selection of clothes, shoes and accessories with the additional of little suspenders, caps and socks that appealed to a younger generation of fashion-savvy consumers.
Items sourced from Cacherel, Daks, Enrico Coverli, Gusella, Giorgio La Perla, Les Copains, and Val & Max went on sales to introduce young men aged four to 14 to the excellence of European fashion labels.
With all their boutiques strategically brought to rest in the heart of Singapore’s shopping district at The Centrepoint, The Milan Group celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2014.
Today, this leading fashion retailer continues to honour their esteemed customers by handpicking only the best merchandise from top Italian fashion houses, marking their enduring commitment to the Asian luxury fashion market.
